Susan (Sue) McKinney is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor affiliated with the CDCW since 2005. Ms McKinney works with adults, adolescents, and children ages 7 and up and facilitates individual, family, and group therapy. Her clinical interests include but are not limited to the treatment of all types of anxiety disorders, school refusal, depression, stress management, self-acceptance issues, parenting stress and family relationship struggles, life stage transitions, foster care and adoption issues, grief and loss, women’s issues, and treatment of teachers and other education professionals. Ms McKinney uses an empathic, goal oriented, integrative approach to therapy with a focus on evidence based practices (eg. Cognitive-Behavioral therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Positive Psychology, and Mindfulness)

Ms. McKinney received her Master of Arts Degree in 2000 from the Illinois School of Professional, Meadows Campus. She also received a Primary Certificate in REBT from the Albert Ellis Institute in 2006. In addition to her role at CDCW Ms. McKinney has spent the past sixteen years working as a therapist in the Adolescent Partial Program at a local behavioral health hospital and is currently the Clinical Coordinator of the program. Ms. McKinney has also previously worked in the fields of education and residential treatment.
