Dr. David Jezl is a Licensed Clinical
Psychologist and the founder of the Counseling and Diagnostic Center of Woodfield (CDCW). He brings over 30 years of experience providing therapeutic services to children, adolescents, adults, and families. Licensed to practice in the state of Illinois, Dr. Jezl has dedicated his career to helping individuals navigate a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges. His areas of focus include mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, ADHD, behavioral concerns, family conflict, and life transitions across the lifespan.

Dr. Jezl earned his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology in Chicago in 1994 and holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Loyola University Chicago. He completed specialized training in child psychology at the University of Chicago’s Department of Child Psychiatry and a child psychology internship at the Child and Family Guidance Clinic in Los Angeles, California.

He has extensive experience in inpatient psychiatric settings, having spent five years as a child and adolescent counselor before transitioning to private practice. Since 1994, he has provided outpatient therapy in a private practice setting, serving a diverse client base. Dr. Jezl continues to work with children, teens, and adults, offering individual and family therapy. His work with adults includes treatment for depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship concerns, workplace stress, and major life transitions. He uses a supportive and solution-focused approach to help adults gain clarity, emotional insight, and tools for navigating personal and professional challenges.

Dr. Jezl has also served as a consultant to local behavioral health hospitals on diagnostic and treatment planning for youth. He is deeply committed to professional development and has supervised doctoral students in clinical psychology at the Counseling and Diagnostic Center, helping shape the next generation of clinicians.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Jezl serves as a board member of Hope for Grieving Children Africa, a nonprofit organization that provides training to caregivers of AIDS orphans—reflecting his broader commitment to global mental health and humanitarian efforts.

Dr. Jezl approaches therapy with warmth, curiosity, and a belief in each individual’s capacity for growth and healing. Dr. Jezl seeks to support clients and families during times of stress, transition, or uncertainty, and works collaboratively to foster emotional resilience, insight, and meaningful change. He considers it a privilege to work in a career where clients share their life journeys with him. Dr. Jezl says that developing relationships and facilitating growth in clients continues to drive his passion for his profession.
